EARLY VOTING INFORMATION

Early Voting begins in Connecticut this year, and the next election in Canton to qualify for Early Voting is the Presidential Election. The Presidential Election will take place on November 5, 2024. Early voting for the Presidential Election will be held for fourteen days, October 21st through November 3rd. The early voting polling place will be the Canton Community Center (Room C). The early voting polling place will be open for voting each of the early voting days (10/21/24 – 10/28/24, 10/30/24, 11/1/24-11/3/24) from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. & (10/29/24 & 10/31/24) from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

To vote early, the voter will need to be a registered voter in Canton, affiliated with either of the two major parties holding primaries. Voting will be in person, at the polling place and voters must check-in (major party affiliation will be confirmed) and present identification. Once checked in, the voter will receive the appropriate party ballot and ballot envelope. After marking their ballot, the voter will put the ballot into the ballot envelope and sign the outside of the envelope, affirming they are eligible to vote in Canton, are affiliated with one of the two major parties and that they have not voted in the primary at any other time or place.

The voter will then insert their signed and sealed envelope in the ballot box (provided). Each day’s signed ballot envelopes will be securely stored in the Town Hall vault. On Presidential Election Day (November 5, 2024), the early voting ballots will be opened and counted at the polling place. In person, “day of” Presidential Election voting will be on November 5, 2024 at the Canton High School from 6:00AM - 8:00PM.
