The purpose/intent of these specifications is to cover the furnishing and delivery to the Town of Canton Fire & EMS Department a new complete Type I, Class I Ambulance equipped as hereinafter specified in the RFP. To obtain the best results and the most acceptable emergency medical vehicle, these specifications cover minimum requirements as to the type of construction, finish, and tests to which the ambulance must conform, together with certain details as to equipment and appliances to be furnished. The ambulance shall conform to the most current requirements (at the time of bid) of the:
Ambulance Design Criteria of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
U. S. Department of Transportation
Washington, D.C.
The specification is based upon compliance to minimum standards as outlined in the Federal Ambulance Specifications, KKK-A-1822F and dated as of August 1 2007 and any amendments thereafter. Further the ambulance will meet all rules, regulations, and licensing requirements as per the State of Connecticut Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS).
