YOUR SILENT NEIGHBORS, John H. Malone, Collins Company Workman
by David K. Leff
Town Poet Laureate and Deputy Town Historian

Born in Collinsville, John H. Malone (1864-1909) worked for almost 19 years in the Collins Company plow department.  He was active in the local chapter of the Foresters of America, a fraternal organization.  In 1891, he married Ella Zeitler who survived him, as did their daughter.

Malone died after an illness of several months.  He was “a popular man and had a large circle of friends,” according to the Hartford Times.  The funeral was held at Malone’s house as well as at St. Patrick’s Church.  The Foresters attended the funeral as a group.

John H. Malone is buried in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Collinsville.
