Built in 1891 in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, the stone and brick masonry, broad arches and recessed window openings, and massive appearance provides the staid sense of security necessary for a bank. A sympathetic arched entry was added in 2014 to improve accessibility and energy efficiency. The bank was incorporated by an act of the legislature in 1853 and first transacted business in the Collins Company office building. It moved to the current structure in 1892.
